Moses baskets

For your ease and comfort the baskets have handles so that you can move them with no trouble at all.  Typically, Moses baskets will include a fabric-covered hood and a complete set of moses baskets bedding. Usually the baskets come with a foam mattress to help make it more comfortable for a baby.

Moses baskets may be placed directly on the floor, or they may be placed at bed level if parents buy moses basket stands.

Safety tip: Check when buying a Moses basket that its handles are sturdy and meet in the middle.

• Your baby may feel more secure in a Moses basket than a cot

Cons

• Only used for the first three months or so: an expensive purchase if you buy new

Put the handles together to carry the basket and keep one hand below the basket to support your baby. If you worry about the ability of the basket to hold the weight of your child, remove them from the basket before you move it.

A tip for parents hoping to get their baby into the cot:  start putting the Moses Basket inside the cot after the baby has already gone to sleep.
